Here are this weekās questions which are a mixed bag:
1. When you retire (or when you retired) do you have a picture of a small cottage with a white picket fence outside in a quiet village or something similar? For quite a few years I had that and then I moved.
2. What do you associate with school dinners (apart from school of course) ? I had twenty minutes from one bell to go down and up two flights of student filled stairs to the next bell for class so never walked the lunch line.
3. Can you play a musical instrument? I have played the piano and organ a bit.
4. What made you smile today? Fandangoās post.
Gratitude: I am grateful every day for my family and in particular, a Zoom call with my son who lives in France.
The small boy sat trembling at his bedside, offering up prayers to the savior, listening to the prophetsā words his mother would sing every evening. Joe was trying his best to believe, stay connected to the dreams his mom spouted would come true if only he stayed on the road of righteousness. In the summer days he would zigzag through paths in meadows, greeting the crows sitting on cornstalks and feeling the soft silk fronds falling free from the ripe corncobs. Joe loved nature and wanted to walk in the moon light also, watch fireflies and listen to the night birds, but being outside after dark was forbidden. Joeās mind was conflicted as to why there was such danger at night that wasnāt there in daytime, when he was allowed the freedom to explore, but Joe always did what his mother told him.
I have now words of my own!! Iāll share the following ā a bit long!!
š³ļø ⦠well, itās happened!! ā My words right now fail me ā matter of fact I have none that make sense!! ā This is why I HAVE to borrow the words of a dear FB friend, DClifton, CA, after asking for his OK. Here goes ā¦
āI could not be more proud of President Joseph R. Biden than I am right now!
Joe Biden just announced he will āstand downā from his bid for reelection. I cannot imagine what a hard decision this must be. I do understand what a selfless act this is ā putting country ahead of personal ambitions.
In the next fews days the President will deliver an address to the nation fully explaining his rationale for stepping aside.
President Biden has accomplished more in this 3 1/2 years in office, so far, than just about any other President in the modern era. He is a good and decent man, the perfect man and President to bring America out of the pandemic, out of the darkness of the Trump administration. He was the perfect person to defeat Trump, and to be a bridge to a new generation of leaders.
I assume Joe Biden will give his full support to VP Kamala Harris. There will be some sort of process to nominate her, or possible someone else; though I think going down that path would be a grave mistake. Now that the President has stepped aside, the party most come together. And it must come together behind the Vice President.
Can you imagine how President Biden will be greeted at the Democratic National Convention now? The level of adulation he will rightly receive for such a selfless act? And can you imagine the shot of adrenaline this will inject into the Democratic Partyās energy and excitement surrounding the upcoming election?
Update: President Biden has just announced his support for Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee!
VP Harris will be an excellent candidate to go against Donald Trump. As one commentator remarked earlier: āSheāll be a prosecutor going against a convicted felon. Sheāll be a woman who wants to protect peoplesā rights going against an old man who wants to take rights away.ā
The Trump has planned its entire campaign around running against Joe Biden. What will they do now? How badly will they be forced to scramble to recalibrate their message to fit the Vice President? How frightened might they be at the idea of their rambling old-man candidate facing Kamala Harris in a debate?
This is an historic day. And historic decision by President Biden. And it remains an historic election this fall. For now, the campaign has been turned on its head. And I can already feel the excitement building as plans are made for us to move forward together.
Kamala Harris is a woman. She is a woman of color. She is the daughter of immigrants. She is basically everything so many conservatives love to hate.
For that reason ā if she becomes the nominee, as I believe she will ā the Republicans will mount one of the ugliest, dirtiest campaigns imaginable. But in VP Harris, we will have a candidate more than capable of weathering whatever storm they send her way.
Joe Biden will āstand downā. Kamala Harris will stand up. And we must stand behind her all the way to the White House!! ⦠š³ļø
When reading Diās post about food at a market, I responded with info about our current siege and chief income for our capitol city, Cheyenne. July is Cheyenne Frontier Days here in Wyoming. People from all over attend. Last year my daughter took me because one of her old favorite bands was featured, Night Ranger, and we hadnāt been in a long time. It is a huge venue for Craft and other vendors to show their work and artistry, rodeos, and carnival type food and of course band performances. We waited till they performed that night and stood in a back area to listen. It rained of course, but my daughter loved it.
A repeated story, to my dismay, in my family is about me acting like my stubborn self. I am reminded of it at most family gettogethersšš
I was following my grandson, he on his bike and me on my š”three wheeled scooterš”. He told me to follow him as I was going the other way. I said no Iām going this wayā¦ran over a small speed bump, fell and broke a bone in my hip, smashed my elbow and embarrassed myself all around, including to a construction worker who rushed over and sat me back up on my scooter. So now anytime I resist a suggestion, the oldā¦remember whenā¦?
The first lines prompt reminded me of how many books I have loved reading more than once. This book is one. I love the way T J Klune expresses different stories, usually involving many types of love. I have many of his books and series on my list of favorites and narrators are very good also. Here are starting words from āThe Bones Beneath my Skinā:
This book has great characters. It has mystery, humor, sadness and will tickle your heart with the character, Artemis Darth Vader.
