He thought his words were deep,
a special meaning he construed
His teacher thought much less,
said they were shallow and misused
The grade caused a tear,
student faced a dismal sight,
The teacher ignored him,
her expression remained bright.
Many teachers guide a child with praise,
while others cause an ego to be grazed.

One Day of Prompts
One day in the life of a taxi driver led to being a defendant in court. He stood in front of the judge who was looking sideways at him, in a suspicious manner and said, “And you expect me to believe this was all a bag of crisps fault?”
The taxi driver looked back to a child sitting in the courtroom, “Yes, your honor! I had that boy and his mom as a fare and they were arguing about the bag and it came flying up, spilled crisps over my head causing me to run into the car in front of me.”
“Split the damage costs between you and the boy and his mother.”
“That’s acceptable, your honor.”

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

Regrets
Calculate, fairly easy to find a rhyming mate, but this morning I’m in a sorry state, find my connections are probably too late, causing me to contemplate.
My life turned a corner when I left New England. I lost contact with family and friends. Those were days before computers, tablets, or cell phones. Letters were the communication, telephone calls were long distance consisting of calling an operator who would place the call and maybe call you back. Calculating, sadly have no excuse for noncommunication.

To say a huge thank you to new followers, new commenters—we all love comments because it means you have read our work! Also another big appreciation to all who offer prompts for us all to respond to and that’s probably not proper sentence structure, but hey…conventional is not usually my style.
Please know you are valuable to all bloggers! Photos, art, words, phrases, poetry forms, story ideas, all—I thank you! Looked for this song by Sam and Dave—have a dance on me☺️

NTT 2

and I don’t usually demonize
but there’s a strange resemblance here
blue suit, red tie, smiling leer,
I don’t suppose we’re of equal mind,
but in those eyes see a future signed
As he holds the pen to a document vile
where all our freedoms are burned in a pile
and life is ruled by a hateful show
and we just sit back, as if we didn’t know.

MLMM Modern Living

Everyone has them
Could use for Thanksgiving
Air fryers a gem
Now essential to living
The fact is they’re quite large
And the price is a big charge
But safer they say than a microwave
And now halogen ovens are the rave
It’s cheaper, cleans well and easy to use
Air fryer owners are singing the blues
Appliances, used all go to Good Will
So try them out, might get a thrill
Or wait until the halogens lose their cool
Being replaced by something new.

All set down by ancient souls
Times were hard, many wars
People disregarding roles
Authorities were harsher then
People died for the smallest thing—
Modern “statesmen” like these ancient rules
Want to use them in today’s schools
Some in power think we are fools
That we’ll ignore some blatant clues
Meant to conjole and confuse
Let them know we refuse
To let ourselves be used—Use your right to VOTE!

Fandango’s Flashback Friday
September 27, 2017. Write a 100 word story beginning with “Once there was a castle”
***
Once there was a castle low in the desert valley with no moat, no ocean or mountains offering protection. King Woe lived alone in the sprawling structure, and decided to isolate himself in this huge wasteland because of a lost love. The King could remember nothing but missed opportunities, and unfortunate circumstances. King Woe’s day consisted of watching dust blow over the neverending landscape from his tower. A certain dust whorl attracted his attention. The image cleared, revealing a woman atop a trotting camel. She looked very familiar–could this be his lost love coming to save him from loneliness?
