The Sunday Whirl

“The serpent beasts rose up in the mist from the underworld.” That is how the old storytellers explained it. There were even books of maps showing the realms of monsters and saints. Their part of the world stood out as a bright emerald land where the voices of evil hoods were not tolerated. The old man continued his remembrance of years gone by.

It was supposed to be a joke between us performers at the arcade. Jerry showed up and asked us to wear these costumes. Standing in a row we resembled a cartoon caterpillar. Then the show began and all of a sudden music came on and we tried to do the dance steps we were told to do. A funny feeling as our costumes were quickly stretched up by a huge colorful disk and our feet couldn’t touch the floor! As the disk rotated we were whirled around like a carnival ride. That’s the last time we take gigs from Jerry!

Ah yes, and I think probably they would be surprised to find that these secrets make them just another human being trying to keep their head above water. At least that’s a saying my mother used. She didn’t have any secrets I ever found but in my dad’s family, quite a few. Nothing horrible, no one murdered anyone, but there was a sister who was running away from an abusive husband. Questions I had when a child came with answers after adulthood.

Tale Weaver – Mirror Mirror Reverse – Naughty Fairytales -Mirror Mirror

Queen:  Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?

Mirror:  Oh, my queen, of course YOU are the fairest in the land. Am I to be locked in here forever?

Q:  Not now, what of Snow White?

M:  Well, may I be blunt?

Q:  Yes, yes, tell the truth!

M: As you wish, my queen.  My knowledge knows no bounds and you shall have the truth — Snow White is no more, she is now Prince Charming’s wife, living happily ever after, and…….

Q:  Yes, yes, enough! My stupid plan failed.  Thanks for reminding me! But I’m still the fairest in the land, right?

M:  Come close, my queen, closer, look into me closely. The queen stepped as close as she could.  Suddenly the mirror transformed into a being with arms and pulled the queen inside.  Now the queen was trapped inside the mirror and the being stood outside.

Being: Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the smartest one of all?
