The definition I like most
Is the meaning of a wooden post
You know, the one defined by a garden gate
To lean upon while waiting for your date?
You might even end in mates?
I’m getting ahead of myself, but it’s late.

When it’s midnight and the moon is full
I can’t escape from my mind so dull
Medicines in a bowl
With a system I control
Upside down means they’re taken
Heaven knows I can’t be lacking
Two for thinning blood
One for blood pressure – good
So many others seems a glut
Doctors orders following I must
It seems unfair
I feel attacked
When a decade passed
And accidents lacked
Feeling put upon, no doubt
Trying not to freak out
Surgery ahead I don’t want
Will solve a problem that does haunt
After ten years thought I was fine
But now it seems I find
I’m in the elder age of decline.

I have a relative lovely and strong
He married my granddaughter
After a relationship long
Turns out he’s Hispanic
His appearance and life deserves a song
I’ll sing it to the rafters to defend him now
Because laws here in my state refuse their vows
He gives the best hugs as a family agrees
And laws that threaten bring us to our knees
There is no justice in these new laws
Some people agree and take pause
We have to change these goose-stepping crews
And keep freedom our choice and fight these views.

W3 Prompt #150: Wea’ve Written Weekly
Good morning, evening, or afternoon! I never know what time zone anyone is in. I’m in the Mountain time zone in Wyoming USA. My answers for Cee’s questions for Share Your World are:
1. If I’m by myself, only once. I’ve been known to sit there thinking of something else, without pushing the button. I guess I think it will just magically appear. Those are usually doctor appointment days when transportation is least on my mind
2. I am not a planner for my own activities. I love spontaneity! However, if it is an event of some kind, I do thoroughly, carefully plan.
3. Four uplifting words to describe myself? You’ve got to be kidding….is that you, Lost? Uplifting-well, I am a two time cancer survivor so that’s pretty “up” there. I try to be positive. I encourage others, especially my children and their children. And lastly, I try to be humourous…..I know, but I said “try”. See? I added the extra u for the dictionarian.
4. I wouldn’t mind any of the locations except the hot tub. Not for me. But probably my favorite would be the fresh water lake, with a cabin. Private. No ski resort type. I like mountains as you know, oceans, beaches, deserts, all. But my absolute fave would be a cabin in the woods with a lake and mountain view. Ahhhh.
I am grateful my grandsons ages 14 and 17 came to bug me this weekend. I love their company. We watched Ironman2 again and generally fooled around. Also had fun shopping for silly stuff and snacks with my daughter. (Items for a care package for her oldest daughter who is studying for the MCATS in May).
This week I am looking forward to watching, possibly helping, my granddaughter make Leprechaun Bait for her fourth grade class. We shopped for the ingredients and just need individual bags to put it in.

Complaint, is a poem that laments or protests unrequited love or tells of personal misfortune, misery, or injustice. I chose lament – unrequited love: rhymed – aabB ccbB ddbB. B is the refrain,

Left alone in bitter query
Sorrow making my life weary
I feel so sad, and it lies deep
Oh how my heart does weep
–
Curly hair adorns his crown
His beauty is well renowned
Sadness into my heart does creep
Oh how my heart does weep
–
His radiance blushes on my face
There is no winner in this race
Water from my eyes does seep
Oh how my heart does weep

Complaint, A Poem of Lament

Of course I had a cabbage that I needed to use and of course I cut the pieces too small because of course I was going to make coleslaw – the no mayo type which I found a recipe for now I really love it but of course I added the cabbage and onion to the sausage and of course I ignored the crackle of the too hot pan, and now I have blackened sausage, but it’s OK – I like a little char with my meals and of course I didn’t add enough cabbage, so when I warm it up, I will add the coleslaw to my meal. Of course, this is a boring story as is my life at the time. It seems I just go from one medical appointment to another and keeping track of medicines is difficult when your brain is on hold with some of the medicines. But at least I have some nice coleslaw to eat when I feel hungry.😂🥺

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS March 15, 2025

Where could I make some loot
I didn’t playing the flute
That instrument was a brute,
The orchestra gave me the boot
Maybe I could gather fruit
Sell at a street fair booth
Alas my ideas not astute
It’s hard to give a hoot.

Quadrille #219 – A Poetic Hootenanny

The sight of Liam in a kilt
Caused Jennie Malone’s heart to wilt
His job was gardens in homes
Cute ones with little fun gnomes
Worked well ‘till he stood on a tilt

They say I’m a playboy, but I was laying there in the hammock, nude, tanning all my tender parts and practicing my bassoon, when an alligator jumped up and bit me! So I knocked him right out with my tenoroon!
