No Theme Thursday

Tim and Dan thought they were cool
they bought this van to drive to school
that’s what they told their mom and dad
the real reason made their parents sad
told their friends they could start a band
of course it got out of hand
instruments were much too expensive
decided to buy some pot and get pensive
just like the promises, it got out of hand
cops said it was the biggest bust in the land

A sorry attempt but my first thought🙄😂

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

Political groups have their theories as does education, property tax managers, religious groups, hate groups, white supremacist groups, black lives matter groups, and of course, a lot of old time fundamentalists, with their bible toting groups. Holocaust denier groups, moon landing denier groups, ban books and radical sports groups, even podcasts or radio personalities have theirs. Do not forget the most infamous theorists: Jim Jones, David Koresh and Charles Manson, and The People’s Temple. Many people have died believing their theories.

**This writing takes the word theory’s definition: “a set of principles on which the practice of an activity is based”

Weekend Writing Prompt #403 – Theory

dVerse Poets

For today’s Poetics, I want you all to select ONE of the following three options and write a poem:

I chose #3:

Texting

Joe was no genius, she knew from the start

But June loved Joe with her whole heart

It started downhill when she sent him a text

He looked at it, didn’t know what to do next.

He asked a friend to help him write one

That was a mistake, quick as a wink it was done

Whatever was said zoomed through the air

And Joe never knew his friend didn’t care

The text that he wrote was rude and crude

June couldn’t believe the words he spewed

June texted back saying I thought you were sweet

But you’re just like the others with nasty tweets

Joe read her response and had no idea what she meant

He decided to see her to explain what she sent

The moral of the story is, if you don’t know tech’s place

You better stay meeting just face-to-face.

Poetics – “From Your Valentine.”

 Tales from Glasgow

It was just an ordinary day of shopping, and Melissa decided to take her little two year old Julie with her. She was looking in the shop window when she turned around, Julie had disappeared. Of course, Melissa started panicking and looking up and down for her daughter. She crossed the street by the strange tree. She called out, “Julie, where are you” and the tree said “Julie’s in here”. At least she thought it was the tree speaking and sure enough there was Julie.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

Wordle #142 – February 13, 2017

It was zenosyne, she was sure of it. How else could she have fallen so fast and settled so softly? She wanted to scream, but no sound came from her lips. Her body separated from the chain and fell into the narrow crack of the rocks. They thought she would die from the fall. At the very least it should have snapped her ankle. But she was saved. Somehow the chain broke and saved her foot. She was free, but also wedged between the rocks.   A blackbird landed close by and decided there was no food here because the human was still alive. His beak was hoping for a piece of her flesh for a tasty morsel. He cawed madly to scold her, he was so disappointed.   Her captors above were looking to see if she was moving, but not wanting to climb down to investigate. Hoping they would think she was dead, she dared not move from her position. Just wait till dark she thought to herself. Then I can make my escape.   She waited in pain for the sun to set. She looked up and saw no one, so started to move cautiously. A small bit at a time and she could free herself. The end of the chain still attached to her ankle provided some leverage to loosen the rock’s grip. Now was her chance. She slipped out of the narrow space and limped into the river. The cold water soothed her injuries. She would follow the river bank to the safety of her family’s campsite. https:mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com
