#TankaTuesday Poetry Challenge No. 2, Synonyms Only, 3/4/2025

Electrocardiogram which is not as scary as you might think. When I received this prompt I had been looking at my EOBs deciding what to pay when. It has been an eventful year after ten mild ones, and I’m not even mentioning the T word!😳🙄🤯

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS March 8, 2025

Sara had a secret habit of reading, especially on rainy nights; huddled under a knitted blanket, getting the shakes as she devoured a murder mystery. Sometimes a bright flash would shine in the window glass and she would picture vivid scars on the murdered victim, in a twist of a nightmarish dream when she dozed off. These dreams and images often occurred when thunder joined the flashes of light. Sara’s mother wondered why her daughter woke up more tired than when she went to bed, but Sara kept it to herself.

stand tall, defiant
glowing through a snowy base
spring blooms will not be denied

Until he was blinded by the sun, ice and jewel, Joe thought he aced his dad’s approval. Now as they both ran to find the free running pet, Joe knew he hadn’t a ghost of a chance to hold the tether by himself again.

Here are this week’s prompts:
I chose number 4:You wake up to find yourself in your five-year-old body and back in time. How do you spend your first 24 hours in this situation?

At five years old I was enrolled in first grade so most of my day was spent in a one room schoolhouse. But after I got home, I had chores to do and then I was free to enjoy the country life, running and playing on our two hundred acre farm that included great meadows, stone formations, streams and brooks, berry bushes and strawberry patches, and a huge forest. This was ideal for me and if I was to stay close to the house, I could investigate above the garage where newborn kittens never ceased, take a swing (which was my favorite) and watch the variety of birds in the tree.
