Good Day Sunday!

I know, hard to think of anything good after yesterday’s news and another illegal but unpunished act from our supreme leader. But I have a question: have you tried boosting your protein and have you tried this?

***

I am seeking new forms of protein packed foods, so what did you think of this if you’ve tried it, and how did you cook it?

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

Marie rushed into the bedroom, looked in the mirror and adjusted her large hoop skirt, pulled her breasts up almost over her bodice and applied too much rouge. Hurrying to put her curly hair into a relatively neat mess, she put on heels she had only worn a few times. Uncomfortable shoes were only for Robert’s eyes, especially when the hoop swished from side to side as Maria walked. All of this preparation was to make limerence show on her intended. Both Marie and her fiancé Robert were anxious for marriage.

Weekend Writing Prompt #421 – Limerence

SoCS 6-20-25

Jumble is exactly what I think when I read all the “reels” on FB. And jumble is a nice word, a rather happy concept, and I have to keep my mind with a positive outlook because reading the news today is overwhelming. And of course my personal opinion is that Trump needs to go. It is comical in a way that he has his signature constantly seen and him sitting in the Oval Office in a slump even as visiting officials are humiliated, brow beaten and criticized as if they’re some lowly creature he can disregard as important. Eventually congress should wake up, impeach and jail this wannabe king, sorry excuse for a human being, and president? Omg. My opinion on this stream…

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

Wordle #160 6/19/2017

She nudged her friend and smiled as she nodded toward her father. In itself, the backyard event was a mundane affair, the usual Father’s Day, with late June heat.  As Joy hinted to her friend to watch her father with the meat wrapper, she whispered, “watch this”.  Meanwhile, Joy’s mother went back inside and ignored the activity.  She had organized the neighborhood BBQ almost every year, but since Jack came home, she wanted no part of it. His actions seemed unnecessary, and she felt embarrassed for him. Someone else could have run the grill.   Joy’s dad, Jack, was an older father than most of the others in the neighborhood.  He was an Army veteran and lost his right arm in a bombing incident.  He received medals and should have been considered a hero. The dismemberment of his arm was replaced with a substantial hook.  He was quite deftly unwrapping the hamburger patties with a backwards roll of his hook on the paper.  It had taken a lot of training to be adept at everyday chores, but he was used to it now.  His daughter was very proud of  him and never missed a chance to brag about his skills.   Jack’s wife on the other hand was opposed to the idea.  In some ways she seemed so disappointed in his survival, one might think she would rather have had a tricornered flag. She was tentative when she saw him in his initial wounded state. Her grief over the loss of his arm seemed paramount to the fact he was home and safe now.  Perhaps the worrying many years he was overseas had taken control.  It was almost as if she didn’t have spine enough to accept him as he was, alive, and slightly changed.  She certainly never got used to him showing his dexterity with the arm’s partial replacement.  She was embarrassed for some reason, known only to her. Jack took a while to adapt to being home again.  Often he would talk to his daughter and vent his feelings.  She was much more receptive than his wife.  He didn’t suffer from PTSD as so many of his military friends experienced.  His wife’s disappointment was clear

but the relationship would last until their daughter finished high school. Jack realized the situation was far from perfect, but he intended to be an example to his daughter.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday — June 20th

MLMM Summer Solstice

***

Summer solstice doesn’t mean much to me in the climate I live in. Yes it is hot today – 90F and that is unusual for us here in Wyoming. Most of the eleven years I’ve lived here there is cold winter and the other three seasons seem to fade together. The growing season is so short you can’t plant till late May or June and then autumn seems to skip right into winter and your plants barely got a chance to bloom. Then of course an occasional rain or hail. But enjoy your lake front picnics and beachy bonfires. Do I sound jealous? Um, well….
