“It’s so hot, asphalt has a liquid state”. Jathan Fink
This is not far from the truth, tarred roads in extreme hot temperatures cause the bitumen in the asphalt to soften and can get sticky and appear melted.

One-Liner Wednesday – How hot is it?

Did you hear about my friend Jack
No computers he couldn’t hack
He’d put in a code
In his secret mode
And all the covert lines turned black

Heavy cold rain and hail confuse the senses because the calendar says June. At least there is a variety in the weather – no long humid hot days for us.

icy drops falling
spring and summer heat relief

Shari wanted to explore an area on the park’s map that showed a fault line. She had read about Yellowstone Park and the volcanic action under it. “This is a good day for it”, she told her husband, “plenty of light over the area, the fog is gone”. Joe didn’t wake in a great mood and asked please could he just take a short nap and meet up later. Shari didn’t object and went to the fault area on her own. Shari was looking over the area where the park ranger led them the day before. Suddenly the earth beneath her feet started moving with great speed and she ended up falling into a huge crack. Luckily Joe showed up just in time to grab her and save her from falling into a growing abyss. Their vacation fun was over and Joe told Shari her exploration of volcanic areas was done. Sadly she agreed.

Here are this week’s questions:
Gratitude: I am grateful that I can be as honest and open as I want with my family and most of my friends. I’m not saying we always all agree, but I am grateful for the love we share.
Share Your World : 23rd June

“I sing to the moon like my brother the wolf, but as my friends have told me, ‘can tell you the truth, or…’ and they always tell me their truth – I have no singing voice. I could offer a few truths of my own, especially to Sophie, such as ‘those drugs that keep you thin are poisoning your body, thus the weight loss. Do you truly want to go to your grave looking like Twiggy, or have a healthy rest of your life with us, your friends?’”

***The minute I saw the third prompt I thought of TJ Klune’s Wolf series, which I loved.

Sunday’s Six Sentence Story Word Prompt!

Sadie’s vision, feeling free and at peace with her previous efforts, wondered if roots would take hold so near the stream. The seeds would go easily into the earthy space and breathe in the moisture from the brook. Sadie loved sitting by the water, listening to it trickle down the rocks. She thought to herself it might be a perfect place to plant.
