Joe bent over at the waist, trying to get an artist’s perspective on the display ahead of him. “I don’t know Mike, maybe you have to lie flat on the ground to get the concept! Maybe they represent the chaos and broken world we live in now.”

“Or….possibly he was in the middle of construction and there was an earthquake,” laughing at his friend’s serious demeanor. “Not everyone just plops down a few rocks and thinks it’s a masterpiece!” The two men continued down the path to visit other displays, Joe muttering something about disrespect.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

                FFfAW July 25, 2017
Hey! A little help here?” Joe was left alone, stuck in the sand, while his three teenage sons scrambled out of the boat to climb the rocks. “I don’t think I deserve this!  Is this how you kids act when I’ve spent time and money planning this trip?”
Joe just wanted them to have everything he wanted when he was their age…. Joe was disappointed, but came to realize they probably needed him more than the stuff they asked for.
Joe spends all of his time working, but this is his weekend with the boys. He’s learning the hard way that what goes around, comes around. Away at the office working constantly, he is never home to influence his boys with what they need most–love and attention.

Fandango’s Flashback Friday — July 25th

3TC Late…

***

“A private matter” drawing me close

Said a prince of a guy I supposed

He wrapped me in his arms too tight

Not a guy but a primate caused me a fright

Acting like a gorilla in heat

Thought I would be a dessert treat

I fought him off with a well aimed kick

Bending in pain, he decided to quit

My experience is limited I realized

Don’t get yourself cornered, it’s never wise.

The Writer’s Workshop

No. 5:

I’ve lived in New England, Texas and Colorado and now Wyoming. Shopping is not on my todo list as I have little time for transportation. I don’t drive so shopping is limited. The store I miss is Joslins. It was a medium priced store if I needed a dress, etc for an occasion. The Denver was a higher priced store where older women shopped, and the personnel were rude. Here I have access to Dillards which is similar to the Denver but people are very nice. Macys is always good for sales on merchandise I used to buy. Living by myself in a small apartment now, I rarely shop for anything but food and usually have it delivered which is another story altogether.

Susan’s gaze locked with the stranger’s across the crowded restaurant, and she was suddenly overwhelmed by a powerful emotion. It had been years since she felt that tingle, creeping up her body, and it was nice. Susan shifted in her seat and was surprised the man’s smile started to spread across his face, as if he knew exactly what she was feeling and that he caused it. She was embarrassed, thinking the strange man had control over her emotions. Susan’s face turned scarlet and she abruptly left the restaurant. On her way home riding the bus, she got out her paperback and hid her face, pretending to read. The feelings she experienced started to wane and at home she looked in the mirror and giggled.
