A song from high school: “Where Did Our Love Go?” by the Supremes. And what’s up with the weird choreography behind them? 😄The 60s!😄

Energy, motivation I sorely lack
Guess I need to get back on track
Get out of bed, or fix a meal
But first, a few more ZZZs I’ll steal.

If you have wings
Use them well
When socializing
Hearing stories to tell
A butterfly you might be
Gossiping about you or me
Be careful what you dish
We live in a bowl like fish
Swimming around with each other
Being sincere is such a bother.

Opening the letter, she wondered why
Or why not, as dangerous thoughts entered her mind.
A meeting? Would I dare? Who would find out, or even care?
Wrestling with her decision she decided she would take a chance.
Sadly her last thought, you only live once, was her last thought.

They say it’s fundamental
Everyone is entitled
And the results are monumental
Unplug your mind, invest in books
Brighten the way your mind looks.

Sitting here contemplating sacrifices made
Each bit of me displayed for you, now being torn apart
Your offerings of tea and honey do not placate,
A further demonstration of your willingness to destroy.

A grisly drip of bloody tissue peeled off the hammer and sent my bones to shivering. The now haggard facsimile of a man lay there, unmoving. I floundered for an extra bit of strength to assemble the crucible. Cold and dark, it seemed the cave was growing smaller. It only remained to make a fire to finish my task. A few more minutes of time in this cave and my claustrophobia would be over-with. The atmosphere grew more frigid and I warmed my bloody hands by the flames. A heavy storm would follow, now the job was done. Thunder already started to gnash at the cave opening and as the last bit of skin burned, I stepped outside only to be pelted with hailstones. A very small penance for the accomplished deed, but now we were free.

There is a history felt here in these tall trees. The barren trunks show no prospect of being troubled by their fate. After the cold winter, new sprouts will begin again and every branch renewed.
