dVerse Poets – Loving Red

Known by her striking red hair

Her temper flares as well

Nicknamed Red by her friends

Caused her ego to swell

Often outrageous actions

Followed a temper true

Justified by her Irish hair

Repercussions then came due

Aging seemed to calm her some

Realizing all she’d done

Fighting for just causes

None of which she’d won

Alas this tale is sorrowful

But heed her actions please

Always using temperance

Doesn’t accomplish the deed.

Colleen’s Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge – Butterfly Cinquain

(After spending time putting this in centered form, WP changed it back. I don’t know how to have it posted in the way I want it to appear, as centered. I must say frustration levels with WP are getting to be too much.)

In clouds

Grey and white shown

Representative of

Feelings now held by you and me

Distress

We must concentrate on the white

The white showing us hope

Bright salvation

Trump Vent

In an article by the New York Times, you can read how the Mexico border construction is ramping up to prevent the virus from them. What? Mexico should be scared of America giving the virus to them!

How can a man be so uninformed yet so powerful, so unintelligent yet blatantly followed? He has no common sense, he’s a petulant child! Excerpts:

Future Times

Don’t be a ninny! Just turn the key, dang it! Hurry up, there’s no one around right now but we still need to hurry!

Joe fumbled it so Jack grabbed the key and the door creaked open. It wasn’t the first time the boys had sneaked in where they weren’t supposed to be. It was kismet that Jack had seen the mysterious old key just laying there on the professor’s desk.

The lecture that day had been about library volumes revealing secret messages from the days of the CoronaVirus pandemic. Apparently they were confiscated when technology failed and people had to write handwritten notes. The world was turned on its head and everything reverted to times before the first world wars on earth.

The boys were curious because in current times, there was no handwriting, no actual technology with computers or phones. If you wanted to communicate you only had to think of the person and were automatically tuned in to them. College classes were usually silent but the professors knew if you were listening. Professor Jones had the only key to these hidden treasures and now Joe and Jack would see them too, a fantasy come true.

MLMM Sunday Writing Prompt 3-29-20

Dear Diary,

Mom told us to go up to the strawberry patch and she would let us help her make some jam. Jo and I love walking up there. We always want to fill the pail but fill our mouths too! Jo ate a stink bug! I laughed too much and spit out berries. It’s a trick not looking close at the strawberry so you might end up eating a bug!

Sunday Whirl – 3-29-20

He felt trapped in the city and wanted this land of back country. The outing was supposed to be a last attempt to revel in fresh air and not hear the chatter of the naysayers. People were now armed in their homes, with a stash of food large enough to feed a family for weeks!

This is what a wreck it had become in just a matter of days. He saw people earlier, scurrying in the streets like rats in a maze, desperate to find supplies they thought they might need. No hand to help the weak, just a scramble to be safe, all the while politicians crawled back under their rocks, enjoying the best of everything their lives had to offer.
