“Unfair work hours!” “No vacation time!” “No pay increases!” “Too much sugar in the beans!” All valid complaints as the workers were on strike at the jellybean factory. “We want more flavors and more colors!” Even their children got involved, holding up their little crayon pictures of their favorite beans.

“This is the worst part of my job”, voiced Charlie. “Everyone has a big old time partying, dancing, and drinking, and this is what’s left of it all. Sunday mornings here at the resort I thought would be an easy task, and I could do some beach and surf time. Cleaning up after these absolute slobs, I mean look at it! Doesn’t anyone know how to use a trash can anymore?” Charlie was venting to his girlfriend who was helping him clean up. They mistakenly thought this was going to be a great summer job.

W3 Prompt #174: Wea’ve Written Weekly

Encroaching

I saw a video of a female bear that was just walking along and many photographers were filming her and all she wanted was to get to a body of water. It made me sad. We are taking over wildlife habitats. We are ruining the environment while “camping” and leaving trash, etc in those areas. These campers also cause forest fires with their careless and unknowledgeable actions. The wildlife and beautiful forests were here first and their areas and homes need to be respected.

Reena’s Exploration Challenge

PROMPT #396
It led me to think about breaking the boundaries of format.
This week, I invite you to imagine that a page in a dictionary belongs solely to you.
What are the words that you would choose to describe yourself and your life’s vision and mission. Are you happy with what you see, or would you like to tweak something?
You are free to just give a list of words or write paragraphs. You may choose to use visual formats like shape poems or word clouds. The world-wide web and AI offer a lot of options. But since it is a dictionary, we need words in the piece.

The door to the study had been locked for years, yet tonight it stood wide open. A light shone from the study into the hall. Shadows were moving in the room and I thought I must be seeing things! I was. Robbers had broken in, gasping at the thought. I stepped closer and grabbed a heavy candelabra from the bureau in the hall. I was shocked to see dogs, about five dogs, running around in the room. Apparently the master of the hounds had broken in, using the dogs as protection.

As he saw me in the doorway, he tried to explain. “I’m owed a sum so I can retire and the master kept it in his desk, here. I only want what I’m owed. He promised I could retire and it’s been the ten years we agreed upon. I only want what is due.”
