Esther’s Writing Prompts – Elements

***

Being in my element these days, and pardon me, but I find myself writing “these days” frequently. I guess it shows what element I’m really in – old! I don’t like to think it, but as I struggle to say a word I know, and will finally come to me in a few moments, I think, yup, old. And the older I get I feel more nostalgic for younger days, chasing my children in the park, and having family still alive, like my three older sisters. I get emotional too easily, an element I have been stuck with my entire life. I consider myself lucky to be able to blog and have my writings express what I hesitate to say out loud.

What is a hairstyle trend to me looks like I’ve been out on a windy day. My daughter came by as I was doing my hair and using a hot curler- I know that’s not what you call it these days, but she said let me try it. So she fussed around twisting my hair, etc and then said she was done. I don’t care for it, but I do see it on people these days. Some trends are not for the faint hearted!

Joe seeing his favorite ride, sitting there, rusting, and ruined was nostalgic. He hid in that spot years ago being chased by the sheriff when he thought speeding down Main Street was fun. He loved that Chevy. To think those pranks we kids did were horrible, it’s lucky my parents aren’t alive these days when violence is rampant. Joe hauled the car there when it no longer drove, and left it. Remembering Betty and the guys, the many good times they had in that car…smiling to himself, said “so long” to the Chevy that had given him so much pleasure.

Hey George, notice anything funny in the back seat?

Nah, I think it’s almost Halloween, probably just a mask!

I think our driver is scared, look at his face! He must not like dogs, especially big ones. All our brothers just seem mesmerized by the road ahead…are they all thinking it’s a real dog and scared, too?

I don’t know Harry, but I’m just going to keep looking straight ahead like everyone else. I don’t want to start any trouble. Maybe the dog just needed a ride too. Our stop is coming right up. Let’s get out fast.
