No one really cared.
He took care of all of them
With all the things he shared.
Now he sits there exhausted, tired as he can be After spreading cheer to his office family.

Parenting, ah, what do you think
Children, ah, seemed a good idea
Let’s just say I was no Greek Theia
Years ago I should have thunk
And I was sober, not even drunk
That having children would change my dance
No longer living with sweet romance
Finding minutes for private time
Would have been, if happened, truly sublime
But moms and dads that are on their own
Grandparents away so they are alone
No advice if wanted, or babysit duties
We were by ourselves with various cuties.
We all survived relatively unscathed
No one even ended up crazed
Although there were moments I felt dazed
It ended well, brushed with love’s glaze.

W3 Prompt #72: Wea’ve Written Weekly
Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to choose one of these options: recall an experience you’ve had where you’ve asked for a sign, or came upon a sign unasked-for, and interpreted it and write a poem about the experience, preferably in first person.

Feeling depressed as we all do at times
Sat in the cloudy garden, hoping for a sign
A sign that things were not so bad
That a change in my life could be had
Lighting upon the gardening things
A beautiful dragonfly stopped his wings
I asked if he’d come to visit me
He then turned and lit on my knee
A coincidence you might say
I prefer ‘twas a sign to chase away the gray.

The excited voices in the group held to their routine, trying to soften their communication to visualize the incredible scenes. They had gathered to encourage each other not to give in to the worldwide changes taking place in every library. There were actual riots taking place everywhere. The breathtaking images came over the screen charging suspense as to the outcomes of these actions. Some of the government people in charge had a hunch this would happen and conveniently closed their doors so not to respond with any solutions. Harried police officers gathered to insure violence would not ensue, but the later the protests went on, the more dangerous it became. Banning books, restricting access, even burning books, jailing librarians and more had become untenable.

People who attended were challenged with climbing 2,200 steps, equivalent to the 110 stories of the World Trade Center, and got a glimpse of the climb first responders faced on the tragic day. My oldest grandson completed this again this year with his team👍🏻❤️

She said, “To be pretty for you I have dropped two seeds of turnsole in the dark of both eyes.” He was suddenly taken aback as her words seemed to cause his heart to crack. Surely such words were not coming from her, as he had spoken of her beauty many times. He studied her, wondering how she could not have realized how he adored her— that her beauty was only an ornament. He softly took her in his arms, and pressed her close. Leaning back, seeking any expression or speech that could convey his truest feelings to her, he pulled her to him again. She seemed unresponsive, stiffening, as if unable to believe his words.
“No tincture of magic was ever needed. There is nothing in this world that could in any way compare to my love for you, just as you are.”

Prosery: Through the eyes of Isabel Duarte Gray

She heard the grieving whispers as the mourners gathered on the shore. Since his death, the hurt was clawing at her every thought, roaming in her mind, making it hard to breathe. The roughly hewn boat lay still while his body was encompassed in the flammable fluid. Suddenly the rush of multiple swift arrows filled the space and the funeral began.

“Damn it, Jim!” The ten year old Star Trek fanatic looked around sheepishly hoping his mom was not spying, as she often did. The two friends were fascinated by science fiction tv. “I can’t beam you up right now, the flux capacitor is on the fritz!” Joey stood up behind the lawn chair he was supposedly hiding behind and yelled, “highly illogical, Scotty, that was in Back to the Future!” Then Joey started for home, saying “Live long and prosper, Scotty.”
