Greg’s Five Word Challenge

He feasted on his latest forage, the heart and liver of the deer—a truly beautiful animal, but the sacrifice was necessary. The haven was getting near the heaviest snowfall and he needed strength. His family, located far away from his wooded home, were flippant in their meals, deciding to waste food randomly, not like him. His calling had been to return to the natural life, away from others, blending into the forest around him.

The Sunday Whirl

“The butcher did it!” He explained, “I know, the last guy you’d ever expect, right? But take a spin into his world, and think about what he does with those sharp knives every day and if circumstances came to him, causing feverishly scattered thoughts of aching revenge, well….”
I felt like an hourglass with the last few grains of sand fastly disappearing down my center. I had known the butcher all my life! My incredulous eyes fluttered as I realized the detective was right. The butcher always seemed an enigma, only shadows seen in a shallow pitch of emotions when greeted, but murder? I gasped!

MLMM Saturday Mix – Grief

At first she lifted it and inhaled deeply. His scent of woody evergreen was so familiar, her heart ached. She saw it there after, after she started to breathe again, but couldn’t bear to touch it, or take it home into their room. It seemed appropriate to let it remain where he left it, because maybe he would come back somehow, to retrieve it. He would put it on and come back into their home and life would be the same. Instead she stood and wrapped herself into it as if it was his arms around her once again.

SoCS 12-30-23

After being under the weather for various reasons, I said “phhhttt“ with this sick tiredness and our family got together yesterday for a meal and presents. One of my granddaughters did a survey ahead of time and then made a power point😂 presentation of the results. It was a question quiz on members of the family, such as: who would you ask to help bury a body, and who would you ask for help if you needed a $100? It was hilarious. She’s also the one who organizes the book exchange every Christmas. I am so blessed to have such talented, creative and loving people to surround me. Btw, I was disappointed that I didn’t get the “help with the body” prize😂! My oldest grandson and family are moving into a new home today so the action never stops here☺️. Here’s hoping you all are looking forward to a better new year!

Fandango’s Flashback Friday

When I look around at life

My lack of trouble also strife

I have reason to believe

It’s not hard to achieve

A feeling, not a platitude,

But just plain honest gratitude.

We all have something to be grateful for

Some have less, some have more

As for myself, I have plenty

And reasons I could write of many

Here for you, to contest

But first, let me stress

It’s not mine you need address

But your own you should express.

Let people know how much they matter

Write it down, send a letter

Handwritten, envelope and stamp

For them to hold, know they’re a champ.

We all have time to just write thanks

And let them know just why they rank

At the top of your thank you list

Don’t forget and let it go missed.
