You could make the bitter batter better using butter. Of course, butter makes all baking better! The flavor is needed for baking cookies or cakes or pies. At least that’s my opinion😀 I will have the pleasure and fun on Sunday when my granddaughter joins me for baking. I also found an old fudge recipe I want to try. I don’t care for the easy/quick marshmallow soft type. We’ll probably make molasses, sugar and peanut butter cookies. We might decorate a few of them. But nothing like past years – 🙄🤓💚❤️. It was lots of work, but fun though!

Update, yes we made sugar cookies my granddaughter, grandson and couple friends, laughed a lot, got frosting all over. A mixer bit the dust but cookies were good.🥳🎉🎊💚❤️

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS Dec. 20, 2025

Simply Six Minutes

***

It wasn’t me, I swear it so

I was outside, I love the snow

See my paws are wet and cold

And I always do as I’m told.

What a mess, I’m sorry ‘bout that

It might have been the neighbor’s cat

I’ve seen him try to come in

Not supposed to be visiting

What? You have a baby cam?

Video of a cat causing a tree slam?

You think it’s me, oh my dear

I could never get that near

The tree is pretty, love it so

And as I said I was out in snow.

Uh, okay, I saw a pretty bauble

Knew I’d get into trouble

I wanted to see the shine

Paw got stuck on its twine

And then down it came

I know, I have no shame.

Simply 6 Minutes – Welcome to the Challenge: 12/23/2025

The Sunday Whirl

***

The starless sky, black and menacing, conjures demons and swallows any purity from white clouds or sparkling stars. There is no room for doubt that a third black night in a row is kindling secrets no one wants to know. In the blink of a mother’s eye, the youngest child in the village, once soft and cuddly, turns into a dragon, the skin adopts scales, usually in a dark green hue. Everyone hoped their child would not be the youngest in the next cycle of time. Huge wings would suddenly appear and fly the baby to their nesting home.

Woeful Wolf

***

It was just for one night. Any noises would be drowned out by the tv Larry thought. He was hoping no one would hear. Larry’s old friend Joe had an accident about three years ago and since then Joe did not visit anyone, lived in the woods by himself. Unfortunately a mutual friend had a fatal heart attack and the two friends were getting together after the funeral. All the guys were watching tv together talking about younger years. Suddenly Joe sat up and went outside. Larry knew what was going on and turned up the television. A wolf sounding howl came from the wooded area and grew fainter as the night went on. The men were puzzled but just figured Joe was more upset about losing this friend. The next morning Joe was sitting on the couch normally.

The Writer’s Workshop

I chose number 4.

Looking back I guess it was not a big deal, but I was a lot pickier then.🤓 We had my husband’s old college friend staying the night. I made sure the guest room was perfect with new sheets and other amenities. After he left the next day I went in to take off the sheets to wash and found a large stain on them. It was about a foot square mess, black and thick shoe polish and the bed had been made like everything was fine. I couldn’t believe he left it and said nothing. I told my husband next time he could stay in a hotel!

Where is?

***

The older she got, the less sure she was about everything. Growing up her strict parents were very clear on every aspect of life, so naturally she obeyed and thought the same. After marrying she moved to a very different area and even the people she met did not speak or have the same ideas that were ingrained in her mind. Then life happened, had children and she expanded her horizons and enjoyed the changing world. Retirement was another new life happening all around her, but she was changing too, learning all the time. However, a slowly developing dementia was claiming her mental space. It was frightening to realize this change was not the learning experience she wanted. Her family started to take control and it seemed even the simplest things were now a chore. Luckily she found help with exciting new medicines and therapies. When she improved, she still found herself asking, “where is…?”

Sammiscribbles Weekend Writing Prompt

***

Just a teaspoon she said
Offering me the sweet
I shouldn’t have sugar
I said on repeat
It’s only a teaspoon
Won’t hurt you a bit
After I drank it
Had a screaming fit!
I said, you know, you’re not a doc
Encouraging me to have it
You must talk through your socks
I left the eatery real quick
Only a teaspoon made me sick.
