MLMM Saturday Mix

Joe closed the tent flaps and made quick work of the dousing the campfire. Bacon and eggs would have to fuel him the entire day, since he would be leaving town and the country. He grabbed the essentials for his carryon—passport, writing pad and pen, camera, the film evidence, and some pepper spray. He smiled ironically thinking the spray would not help against the assassins chasing him, but maybe it would delay them a few moments. There was always a chance, he had to believe that—a possible escape. Otherwise he might as well wait here in the woods and accept his fate. Doing his job if you could call it a job, was dangerous and the inevitability of death was always in his mind. He grabbed the duffle bag, adjusted the ceramic gun in a hidden pocket, and threw the bag in the car. Twenty minutes later he was parking in the airport lot. He never saw the killer approaching from behind a large vehicle and there was no time to reach for his gun, or pepper spray. Joe was dead in an instant.

Sprinkle of Balderdash 6-1-2018

How appropriate prompts are sometimes. The example of a sprinkling of balderdash fits today’s events perfectly. I was just sitting here minding my own business when I was interrupted with a text from my credit card company. They said they were warning me about a debit today and would I confirm a certain purchase made today. TODAY? I haven’t used that card since April 27 to see “Infinity Wars”!

They gave me a number to call in the text, but me being the suspicious, been burned a few times already person that I am, just texted back No. Got out my cc statement and called that number in case the text was fraudulent. Turns out it was used and the text was a valid warning which I appreciated. After our conversation found out the card had been used about ten times since I had hidden it away on the 27th of April. How could this happen I queried, since it never left my possession? Then I learned about mobile apps. OMG! Now what? Another plague on society, mobile apps. At least that’s my opinion. Because anyone who sees your cc number can set up a mobile app using it?

This isn’t just a sprinkling of balderdash, it’s the whole enchilada! So here’s the thing, I use a cc for convenience since I don’t drive and basically don’t go anywhere so never have ready cash. On the rare occasion I’m out, I use a card. I don’t use ATMs because they charge a fee to get your own money out of the bank, another plague. Many places don’t take a cc so it is inconvenient, but I don’t shop! I get groceries once a month, period. Okay I’m done for now. The cc person said they’re sending me a new card. I said no hurry, I have no intention of using it, I’m paying it off!

NTT – Baseball Baby!😉

Joe never believed in time travel, but thought it would be cool. One night as he lay restless trying to sleep, thinking about it, he felt a strange sensation, as if he was being transported. He opened his eyes to see what looked like an endless scene. He had been transported into a strange place. Suddenly he realized he was encased in an hourglass, but he could breathe and felt no ill effects. Thoughts turned to a place he always wanted to visit if time travel was real, it was decades ago. The more he thought of the game, the more real the scene became. The glass surround filtered away and he was sitting behind home plate at “Game 7, of the 1960 World Series, when Bill Mazeroski hit the series winning ninth-inning home run, the first time a winner-take-all World Series game ended with a home run, and the first World Series to end on a home run. Mazeroski’s home run gave the Pirates their third title overall and their first since 1925.” Joe couldn’t believe it, a childhood dream came true! Then the scene faded and he was back home in his bed. Had it been a dream or did time travel exist? And the hourglass? “I felt it!” Of course Joe had no sleep the rest of the night.

She was beautiful, strong, loyal, and believed in truth and justice. She proved it in every comic book edition and tv episode. The modern Wonder Woman portrayed by Gal Gidot in the “Wonder Woman” movie was just what I pictured she would look like in person when I was a child.
