Moonwashed Weekly Prompt – Moonlit

Oh to have the freedom of a horse
Running wild on the prairie
Jumping alongside his herd
Feasting on sticky brush and grass
Running fast avoiding intruders
Pristine lives are short
Hunters and poachers seek them
Herds have female mares to lead
Stallions stay and fight to protect.

Poetics: Running with Horses

A comfy space
Outside the race
Of life and work and all that fuss.
It’s quiet too
Insulated roof
And no jobs to fix the muss.
Ideally we like to sit
Out back by the fire pit
No fires inside and that’s a plus.
Cooking and cleaning
Have a backseat meaning
We like the comfy look, it’s us.
Books and tea, just relaxing
Warm and cozy, nothing taxing
This country home is our life’s plus.

Simply 6 Minutes – Welcome to the Challenge: 07/23/2024
This week’s Story Starter teaser is:
The sound of laughter drifted up from the street below, making Gregory feel very alone. He settled back on his sofa, sipping his favorite Earl Grey tea and wondered if the entire world besides him could be happy to gather with strangers and enjoy it.
Gregory was an introvert but he did like to laugh and party once in a while. He wasn’t really fond of alcohol, but could enjoy a nice burgundy, with a meal of course. He was never one to sit and drink wine or any cocktails by himself. That was one reason he was sitting here listening, not joining. Usually people thought you were weird if you chose not to overdo and Gregory thought he would probably never be able to loosen up enough to be accepted in that atmosphere.
Gregory stroked his big yellow Labrador and spoke to him like a friend because Joe, the dog, always listened, never judged, and loved and accepted Gregory just as he was.

Fandango’s Story Starter #159

It was the Seychelles, of course, their usual vacation spot. The locals were always friendly and you could even sing hymns out of tune in church and no one batted an eye. They were friendly that way. It’s true you are judged by the company you keep, because we would never have heard of the Seychelles if it wasn’t for Jubal, an exchange student who our son befriended in high school. That was years ago, but we all still get together every couple of years.

24 Seasons Syllabic Poetry Challenge, No. 44, 7/23/24, Part I, Sweltering Heat (July 22 – August 6) Taisho 大暑

Some things in life I love to hate
Things I usually underrate
Okay, it’s my chair, supposed convenience
With wheels I push, sometimes not at all lenient
Things I usually underrate
Some things in life I love to hate.

W3 Prompt #117: Wea’ve Written Weekly

Hold it up
Use your power
It’s your mind over matter
Your will, your strength
Seize that inner strong man
The warrior, the fighter.
This is no time to stand down,
Cower on your sofa watching news reels
It’s time to stand up, partake!
Be the voice of those who have none!

Stark contrasts of apricot dry wood
Once soaked in blue waters of the lake
Edged by green blue mountain foliage
Vermont is most beautiful in autumn
No one denies this summer visage
Will compete with inviting seasonal color
Observing the amiable calming scene above.
