Joe looked at the mess, sighing. How many times had he come home, hoping to have a quiet home cooked meal and find this? “Ronda! Where are you? Why did you leave this mess here? I am tired and just want dinner!”

Ronda slithered out from the bedroom wearing discreetly placed globs of dough and whispered, “I spent all afternoon preparing it for you.”

Joe had to smile.

Transport

oh yes, let it happen
my captain, my captain
transport me
across the seas
to a villa sitting above the beach
where billowing white linens reach
the floor near an overstuffed bed
that being said
a romantic vision
might a careless decision
be made on an evening sweet
might never see a repeat
but the ocean waves copy the rhythm
for a brief moment I am in heaven
oh yes my captain
because even then
a different journey will begin
and I am transported.

Simply Six Minutes

***

Well here sits my husband in his glee

Eating cereal while wild and free

His favorite pastime is clear to see

He’d rather bathe and eat than sit with me.

I’ve talked to him till I’m black and blue

But he wants all the other colors too

Too much to be satisfied

With whatever I do.

It’s harmless they say, let him be free

When I asked a doc for suggestions for me

So here he sits and I am tired of it

Think I’ll buy gallons of milk, let him drown as he sits

That way at least we’ll both be free

Me in the shower and him in a cereal sea.
