Moonwashed Weekly Prompt – Poetic

Climate Change
It’s too late now, they’ve taken to acts of revenge. I wouldn’t just step out with bare feet on my grassy lawn after the sprinklers were on, you might get a shock! And I’m not talking about your brain freeze as you see thousands of electric wormlike creatures gravitating towards your porch steps…notice how they ignore the trees and natural creatures? Yes my friend, they are coming straight for you. Better get on those rubber flip flops asap!

Photo Challenge #534

There must be gods somewhere
Providing such a beauty fare
All manner of colors and hues
From maples, oaks, oh I can’t choose
The most beautiful of autumn’s trees
Brilliance before losing leaves
They fall to ground to ease
Soil for another season, please
Loving delicate crunchy, curly, bits
Providing nourishment for spring, it fits
Because every season prepares for the next
Mother nature’s plan not perplexed
She has been around
Knows her ground
And all seasons’ grace abounds.

Poetics: Fall (in) love

Number 4:
You are intelligent
You are beautiful
You are talented
You are worthy
Life is not a fairytale
Ignore criticism
You will succeed
You can achieve whatever you decide to do
Keep the faith
Keep your sense of humor.

This Week’s Writer’s Workshop Prompts – September 24, 2024

Here are this week’s questions:
1. Do you prefer to sit in an armchair or curl up on a couch in the evening? I’m in a wheelchair 90% of my waking hours, then recliner for a movie maybe.
2. What was the last book you read? The last book I read was “Cave 13” by Jonathan Maberry. Just started T J Klune’s “Somewhere Beyond the Sea”.
3. What snacks do you enjoy? All the worst ones, chips, cookies etc, but usually now it’s veggies and fruit.
4. Do you prefer vegetables over fruit? I love both but veggies probably every day a love.
Gratitude: I am grateful an old woman who lived in this complex moved to assisted living where she can get the care she needs. It was a big change but she’s getting used to it. And always, family.

Joe only wished he had a chance
But Sue never offered a glance
One stare at his clothes
Jeans ripped in wide rows
And said, “not if you wear those pants!”
Joe knew that it was his last chance
If he wanted Sue at the dance
He got down on one knee
With a smile and a plea
Sue said yes with a grinning glance.

Laughing Along With A Limerick

Cool mornings, pleasant evening chills, all enjoyed by a warm bonfire. Maple trees are the stars of autumn’s beginning, a short vision, and then we watch children dance in leaf piles.
equal nights and days
colored leaves display
autumn’s not here to stay
it is mother nature’s way

Haibun Monday 9-25-23: Equinox

A penny for your thoughts he said, as if he had no clue
He invited company, and I wasn’t in the mood
For years I’ve been baking treats, a birthday cake or two
Even cooked a roast and short ribs, by the slew
My husband brags over my abilities, so true
I wish he’d hire someone else to stand over a hot stew.

Each tiny kernel shows
Ornamental corn growth
Such intricate designs
Mother Nature takes her time
Choosing colors so sublime
See the beauty of a rhyme
In a harvest.

I think she has it all figured out
She never comments with a pout
Her consistent efforts are without
Rancor or criticism, and there’s no doubt
She’s a very nice lady we need to thank
So many followers show how she ranks
As an outstanding blogger!
