Update

I’m home finally – that month in hospital and rehab was unpleasant to say the least – apparently the rehab was the best in town and that’s not saying much. The pain in my right leg caused me to shift my leg a lot at night in hospital and apparently this caused a bruise on the bottom of my heel. So now I am confined to the wheelchair or recliner or a bed because I’m not supposed to stand on my two legs until the heel heals. So no one saw this condition, and it just deteriorated.

I am almost able to get to my right foot to wash it and put on lotion. My right leg has permanent hardware in it now and a lot of screws holding it in place on one side of my thigh. There’s a large incision there where they put all the hardware inside and around my knee and up the thigh on the right side. Thank heavens my left leg that I broke in March has healed up enough so that I can rely on it when standing. I have Wound Care and OT and PT coming to my home.

I am getting around by myself fine, but I’ve had no desire to write and it’s obvious when you read the sixth sentence story that I am off my game. I hope to recover that because it’s my favorite activity and especially I want to say thank you to all of you who stuck with me and sent good wishes. I really appreciate them. One of the medicines I am on makes my vision very poor, so I’m not reading as much as I used to.

I have to look on the bright side. At least I only have two legs so I can’t break another one. My whole life I haven’t broken anything significant, and after living that way, breaking two legs in one year is ridiculous.

Thanks to all, Cheryl.

PROMPT WORD:  POOL

***

Sam was a diver and very well known

Off cliffs or a pond he felt at home

He never should have taken the bet

To dive in that backyard pool

For that wager he was a fool

Water shallow—his demise was shown.

Sunday’s Six Sentence Story Word Prompt!

Friday Fictioneers

I thought it might turn out this way, but actually I do not mind it as much as when it first entered my mind. Who can say their last vision was of a lovely chandelier? Of course I always loved it but Marley not so much. She left all the renovations up to me and I must say I had fun with them. That’s why she left me right here under its magnificence to be sure it was the last thing I saw. You wouldn’t think a woman could get so upset over a light fixture!
