SYW 1-27-26

Here are this week’s questions:

1.  Would you consider yourself easy going? More so now that I’m older. I used to be a it’s either black or white person. But now I realize that’s not right.

2.  Are you comfortable talking to a group of strangers at a social gathering? Yes, in fact I like meeting people.

3.  What are three things about people that annoy you? Refusal to accept people that don’t look like you. Criticizing everything. Lying.

4.  What do you do to cheer yourself up when you’re feeling down in the dumps? I try and lately it’s not easy, but I try to look at pictures of my family and they always make me smile.

Gratitude: I just sent a note to one of my grandsons reminiscing about him and meals we used to make together, since I was making one of them that night. I’m so grateful for my family.

Standing there, pushing levers

Got my highest score ever

Suddenly I heard a voice

“So glad you made this choice!

Welcome in, won’t feel a thing…”

And then I saw myself running

Inside the game I’m now trapped

Every time they hit those flaps

The ball hits me in the head

I should have seen the rules that read:

Any score above three hundred-five

You’ll be transported inside.

JuJoJan 27 – Labyrinth

Trying to navigate the rules

Should have worked harder at school

The labyrinth of a library visit

No understanding, asking “where is it”

Annoyed librarians look down their specs

Point to a shelf and I think maybe I’m hexed

I wander, clueless as to the shelf I need

Should have learned ol’ Dewey’s system, DDC.

Sue didn’t want to carry the reputation of being a rich, petty snob and tended to worry that hanging out with Jessie and Mary might paint her with the same brush. It was constantly in her head but she had her pride. She tried talking about it with one of her sisters who suggested she try to get honest support and ideas from the school guidance counselor. After pouring out her heart to this teacher, she received no custom advice and was sorry she let the counselor realize how vulnerable she really was.

Six Sentence Story

“Check this out”, Sara said facetiously. “I think this might be true!” Sara held up her phone so her husband could see the Instagram photo. She knew her husband was secretly seeing the woman in the phone’s photo. The picture showed her scantily dressed sitting on Davis David, the latest movie star. “Guess she likes him”, her husband said, red faced with anger.

I was on top, she was below

An old wooden sled, she’s steering, wind blows

Our faves are freezing, we’re going fast

My job was to keep an eye for cars to pass

A hilly slope, a covered dirt road

I was supposed to let her know

A trick came to mind on that snowy slope

There’s a car coming I yelled like a dope

She headed quick and straight for the bank

The plowed snow was hard like a plank

We landed stiff as boards

Head first in the snow banked side of the road.
