Fast in my fist
Written for a while
I peruse the aisles
Essential’s are chosen
And then I start moseying
Truly-do not shop when you’re hungry!
Weekend Writing Prompt #384 – Groceries

Weekend Writing Prompt #384 – Groceries
I was looking for a recipe and found this old blog post. So I’m sharing it🙄😂
Daily Post: Construct
Starting right off with a confession. I’m not a good cook, in the old days maybe, but now I’m far too impatient. I turn on my now electric burner. (I prefer gas) to at least medium because I’m used to instant availability after using gas for centuries. Then I use a little butter, or nothing, put in a flour tortilla, slide it around a bit in the melted butter, whip it out and put in another tortilla. Then I add already shredded cheese (said I was impatient) and whatever else I like or have at the time, such as cooked chicken, tomatoes, onions, etc.. Slap on the other tortilla, and cover to melt the cheese. Do I turn the heat down? Of course not. Sitting and waiting is a necessary part of my life, especially the sitting part. But doing it patiently, not so much.
If I have salsa I like to dip the tortilla in it. If not, my favorite is avocado and fresh tomato chopped together for a dip. I just add a little salt and pepper. Sharpened the knife and began cutting up the condiments. You know what’s coming next…checked on the tortilla, bottom a little overdone, okay, charred. Optimist that I am, turned it over, left it in the pan, and took the pan off the burner; (another dislike of electric burners, you can’t have instant off and on heat). Mixed up the avocado and tomato in a small bowl and flipped the tortilla beside it on the plate. Yes, it was burned on half of one side. So I cut that part off and the melted cheese was okay. Did I mention I hate throwing things away? Salvaged, I had my dinner completed.
Now if we’re talking constructing something like chicken and dumplings, beef stew, macaroni and cheese, meatballs, stuffed pork chops, or French dip, I’m your woman.

Introspection on fermentation
Sauerkraut making a combination
Of cabbage, vinegar, and more
No chlorination used in this chore
From Chinese roots of preservation
With cabbages stored in rice wine
Then the Tartars thought it divine
Using cabbage in a salt brine
Germans named it sauerkraut
Liked on ships at sea, stored without
Any needed refrigeration
A healthy fare with vitamin C
Preventing sailor’s’ getting scurvy
If all is told, benefits can cause gas
Some excommunication when lit’s passed.

One-Liner Wednesday – That second one …

Morning begins in the dark now, autumn gray is here
I crawl, then pull myself up til my head is clear
Make sure I’m awake
So no falls I take
And sit in my lovely chair
I mock it daily without care
Wishing I’d walk instead
But that’s old news
You’ve heard my views
Really is nothing to dread
As far as the window, it’s covered with blinds
Only the living room has a view
I say view in a practical sense
A parking lot and sidewalk cement
But my patio has a few
Potted plants I employ
A beauty providing joy
In my remembered thoughts
Autumn splendor to spot
The childhood trees rapport
As I’m wishing for more.

W3 Prompt #127: Wea’ve Written Weekly

An interesting question, but think I’ll pass. These days most people let you know what they’re thinking, loudly😂
My kids, grandkids, great granddaughter, hands down!
Most shows I like to watch I would not want to live in. I like military, war accounts, GoT😳, historical, no thanks I’m too spoiled in my modern era.

Get to Know You #37

After the donkey incident, Charlie decided to offer better bribes than a carrot. Animals were not supposed to be inside the hotel, and the ripped gown was a small hiccup in Charlie’s new plan. As cow shadows appeared on the bedroom window, the hazing club ran to their own rooms.

Can You Tell A Story In…

The wind is constant and cold
Honeysuckle vines are torn
Brushing the blooms, so bold
The wind is constant and cold
Fading blossoms now fold
Summer’s flowers, forlorn
The wind is constant and cold
Honeysuckle vines are torn.
–
When cool autumn breezes arrive
Wind and temperatures cold
Bright summer buds don’t survive
When cool autumn breezes arrive
Flowering vines heat deprived
Yellowed leaves cannot hold
When cool autumn breezes arrive
Wind and temperatures cold.
–
Chilled gusts change autumn trees
Only evergreen needles remain
Maples are losing their leaves
Chilled gusts change autumn trees
Leaves fade, curl up in a freeze
Drop, and be sustenance on the plain
Chilled gusts change autumn trees
Only evergreen needles remain.

MTB: Counting to Three
This week’s Story Starter teaser is:
Suzanne was flipping through her mother’s family photo albums when she saw that all of the snapshots were of a past she didn’t know anything about. She decided to confront her mother with a question about it. Suzanne’s mother grabbed the album and asked where did she get it? “It was in an old box in the attic. I was looking for my old school uniform for Sandy to wear for Halloween.”
“You shouldn’t be looking in the attic for anything. All of your things are in the basement.”
Suzanne was shocked at her mother’s response and decided to ask her father when he arrived, just what was going on. Suzanne and her daughter Sandy were just visiting for the weekend and she was not going to look around in the attic anymore. Not wanting to start anything serious, she took Sandy to the basement and did find the uniform. It was getting late and being a Sunday, Suzanne felt it was best to just go home. Later that week, she called her father and he explained. Apparently the album was a secret for the children she knew as siblings, including herself. Her mother had been previously married and didn’t want her present family to know.
Suzanne decided to leave the entire thing alone since it greatly upset her mother.
