Election Comic Relief

Claytoonz made me laugh today which was a good thing considering I had just spent two hours trying to get a website to accept my password. The paragraph is written by Clay Jones after the news of PNUT the squirrel and his companion, a raccoon when both had to be euthanized…see the story on the news or here: https://claytoonz.com/2024/11/04/candidate-nucketfutz/

Clay wrote: “This is very sad, right? Of course, it is. But then, MAGAts glommed onto the story and milked it as if the squirrel had been raped by a Venezuelan immigrant. Do not be surprised if Trump isn’t in a pet cemetery for a photo-op by the end of the day with the squirrel’s family.”

And yes I think it’s funny and yes I would not be surprised to see that photo op.😂

dVerse Poets – Prosery

***

Walking the leaf-strewn path, the sounds of one season disintegrating under my feet; above I feel the feathery white flakes out of the ninth-month midnight. It’s an early winter surprise, but I take joy in the chill. A fresh white blanket covers my western view this morning, and the ranch animals will be hard to wake. Cold breezes greet me and I don my well-worn parka that’s seen better days. Multiple baby goats yanked at the nylon bringing to view the downy lining and there are stains of cows’ cud on the sleeves, but it’s still warm. I greet the horses and stroke their warm muzzles and long necks. They always like reassurance in the morning. Only chickens and ducks are noisy demanders for their breakfast. Ranching is the only life for me, relaxing and rewarding.

“It was a sad day, I think it was back in 2024? Maybe earlier? My old brain takes a while figuring numbers lately, but I think it was November ‘24…yup hundreds of ‘em, just jumped right out of the boats and sank under the water, most drowned of course…that river was known for its maneater fish, maybe piranha? I think that was it…”.
“Oh my gosh great grandpa, why would they do that?”
“It was the election results, you know, back when Trump got re-elected? The whole world turned crazy and some I guess thought it was their only choice.”

She thought it would be a bridge. Instead it served as a wedge. Relationships were supposed to be give and take. This was her attempt to give of herself and her ideas. He listened a bit and then walked out. He never realized she was really a Republican.

The Sunday Whirl

***

Joe sighs, seeing ravaged blue skies flip into the gray of November. Ashes from his camp fire emerge into the chilled wind and then soak into the damp forest floor. A heavy wool weave masks the icy temperatures against his skin. Joe is saddened at the loss of autumn brilliance to bare limbs. Winter is upon him but he’s taking one last hike before the snow covers the trails.

“Let’s go on a cruise, it’ll be fun”, she said

Pictured a luxury liner in my head

Then as we arrived on the dock

Looked at her as I’m in shock

“It’s a pirate ship”, I exclaimed!

“It’s going to be great”, she proclaimed.

I looked at her, my expression blank

“Better enjoy, or you’ll walk the plank!”

Threats aside we did have a great time

Next vacation, her choice will be fine.

She’s Back! Saturday Six Word Story!

Guidelines for the Saturday Six Word Story Prompt Series

  1. A word prompt will be provided every Saturday at 8 PM IST.
  2. The story word limit is 6 words (words, NOT characters!). No more and no less. This does not include the title, of course.
  3. There is no limit to the number of stories that you can submit. However, only one will be included in the roundup post.
  4. You need not necessarily use the prompt word in your story. However, your story should be relevant to the prompt.
  5. The content must be original. Plagiarism is unacceptable.
  6. It would be nice if you could use the 6WSP image in your post! Click here to download the image.
  7. Compound words (words like over-the-counter, ten-year-old, etc) will be treated as a single word. Any other combination of words will be treated as separate words.
  8. Contractions (words like I’ve, can’t, don’t, etc) are allowed and will be counted as a word.
  9. Please refrain from using any offensive words. Let’s keep this U-rated, people. (If you’re wondering what U-rated is, that’s just the Indian equivalent of G-rated)
  10. You can submit your six word stories until Friday of the following week.
  11. Please be sure to include a pingback to this post. Never heard of pingbacks? Don’t worry. I’ve got you covered. Click here to know how to include a pingback. Only the responses with a pingback or comment linked to the corresponding prompt post will be included in the roundup post.
  12. Don’t forget to mention the Saturday Six Word Story Prompt (or you can go with 6WSP) in your post.
  13. Share the post on all your social media accounts and help rope in more participants!
  14. Add the tag #6WSP when you share the content on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or any other social media. (This makes it easier for me to find your stories too.)
  15. Let me know if you have participated via comments. Due to moderation issues, pingbacks may take a while to get approved.
  16. Alternatively, you can also submit your six word stories in the comments section of this post.
  17. Once you have done all of the above, please read and comment on each other’s stories. Remember, reading is half the fun and sharing is caring. 🙂

I will do a round-up post every week. So please be sure to participate before the time runs out!
