Moonwashed Musings

our country used to be seemingly safe

where citizens against government stood

while innocent protests held didn’t chafe

and “official” men wore no masks or hoods

this is the state of our country, sadly

even children are suffering actions, badly

Moonwashed Musings

***

I chose number four, although it is still embarrassing, I think I’m the only one left that remembers it. We had a coal burning furnace in our house and a grate on the floor in the living room. Apparently, because I was a baby and have no memory of it, I carried my bedroom potty container into that room and dumped it on the grate. The worst thing about it was the pastor from church was in that room visiting with us.

Books, books, books

I have to take a look

Especially books like these

Leather bound, to appease

The smell of leather, olden pages

Full of some of the fond phrases

A trip to another world

As precious pages are unfurled

A treasure trove of adventure

The reader sent as the pen endures

A person who reads has knowledge

Can take on a new voyage

Reading is essential

To aid mental potential.

Blue

I think of it as a miracle when I see a flower that is blue. Flowers are usually white, pink, yellow, red, even orange and purple, but a vibrant blue takes the cake. Speaking of cakes, have you ever eaten blue frosting on a cake? That is a sure way to dye your teeth.
I’m not as serious as possibly I should be with this post about blue. I try not to be in a blue mood and if I am it doesn’t last long. The days can sometimes come at you like a canon and you think “I can’t stand this. Why is this happening to me? What have I done to deserve this.”
This last year has been tough and it’s been tough on the whole family. My daughter started a new job and that takes her away from her last daughter who graduated as a senior from our high school here in Cheyenne. August 11 she will be leaving for college in South Dakota. I know as having my daughter leave for college and at the same time we left for Houston from Denver – that was extremely rough on my husband and I and we went through about two years of being very blue. Blue times have come and gone as they do in every family, but when I think of my granddaughter going to college in a very nice place and being able to play soccer which she loves, it will make us all happy. I love blue in almost all forms, especially blue eyes, which get my attention anytime I meet a new person . Bring on the blue!

Protests

I can’t keep quiet anymore. This whole Los Angeles business is making me angry. Sending our neighbors and friends who are in the National Guard or Marines into the situation where they are put in the of quelling these riots that were started as peaceful protests until Trump decided to send troops in to stop these protests. That is extremely unlawful. He has no right to do that and go against the mayor of the city or the governor of the state. I was a teenager in the 60s and I saw this and it shocked me. We should be aware and keep this from happening again.

Is this what is going to happen – deaths that are unnecessary and would not happen if he had just let people protest peacefully like they are doing all over the United States? Cannot the administration see that almost every major city in the United States is full of protests from its citizens? This has to stop and the only way to stop it is to either having Congress get rid of Trump by impeachment or having Congress prosecute him for what he’s illegally doing. At first his actions made me mind boggled that Congress would let him get away doing this,
acting like a king. Months ago I actually thought it was sort of comical like a Saturday Night Live skit, but it’s not – it’s very serious. It’s very harmful and he needs to be stopped by Congress voting the way they should be.

Pick 3

It was the worst of times and the worst of times…a shockingly bizarre happening when one of the richest, but worst examples of a leader became the United States president. I think some people who voted for him thought he had a sound platform and was a business mastermind. Of course his failed attempts and bankruptcies didn’t seem to matter. I guess they voted before looking into his losing, and liked his tv personality.

“to hurt is to steal” that most intrigues me. I am very interested in seeing where you take it in your story.

Cupping the flannel shirt and sniffing his essence, she seemed perplexed. She left him, and didn’t know if that was the right decision. She held the soft material close to her for a while and wondered if he, too felt anything. Would he seek her out, again offering poetic words from a song? In her heart she hoped she would see him, and murmured his last words to her – “to hurt is to steal”. She suddenly realized what he meant. To hurt him, was stealing their bond. She sat on the couch, still clutching the shirt, and felt so sad to think she had hurt him.
