I am a widow since 2013 and live by myself in a small apartment. I use a wheelchair to get around, but I wouldn't consider myself disabled. I'm 11 years away from having bladder cancer resulting in a urostomy and I'm doing well. This cancer was a result of having radiation in 1995 because of uterine cancer. So have faith in yourself, a cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence. My first try at blogging was an attempt to help other people with my condition. I am a mother of three married children, and a grandmother to eight gorgeous kids, featuring them often here, and a great grandmother to two as of today, 6/7/25! I enjoy exploring my feelings and like to try the challenges. I like humor, music, movies, games, and some sports. I absolutely appreciate your reading and commenting on my blog. I am happy to read all of your blogs and learn more about you. Please comment however you like, ask whatever, and I'll answer honestly. Thanks for reading! Cheryl

Something that opens…say it’s my mind. Stream of consciousness right? So my mind opens when I’m still in bed, turn over and grab my phone to see if the world’s on fire. Well today it’s not, on fire anyway. If google ever updated their “stories” I might find out but I choose CNN or NPR for news. It would be nice to know if there was a good news outlet that didn’t charge you or have ads all over the actual news so you could read it, but no. NPR is the one that’s still hanging in there. PBS is another one we may lose to “budget cuts”. I believe of course these outlets will be defunded because they do not agree with the current US administration. Consciousness, see? That’s plenty open today!

Us Americans, who are we really? Are we the proud citizens who supposedly live under rules, rules set out 249 years ago? Apparently not. Look at your friends and family, neighbors, and tell me if you see someone who may be afraid to go out of their house, or lost their job, who can claim they are feeling safe sending children to school, who can’t go to a doctor, who can’t afford food, who can’t pay their mortgage…how many do you see? Is this how America was founded? Trump wants you to vote R in the primaries, show him what YOU want.

The Restaurant Authorities moved in quickly and surrounded the chef, the waiters and all. “Your establishment is being sanctioned and you need to close immediately! The so called sauce you use that has been revered in “Bon Appetit” magazine contains an unauthorized ingredient!”
“And exactly what ingredient is that? And who is your source?”
“I’m hesitant to say, because he is in this room…”
“It was me, chef. You are using a mushroom powder that is poisonous to a third of the population. Delicious as it may be to most, others end up in distress!” The sous chef was saddened to send the report, but knew it was his duty. The restaurant closed soon after.

“Do you think that’s wise, keeping the clothes outside to dry?” The tepid demeanor of the daughter-in-law revealed her distaste for the question.

“Unlike a dryer which takes power we would have to pay for, plus the sheets etc to make our clothes feel fresh, hanging them outside is better. It makes the fabric last longer, they smell so fresh, and there’s no need for perfumed extras.“
