dVerse Poets

Welcome, everyone. Dora here from Dreams from a Pilgrimage to invite you to join us in writing for Prosery Monday. Prosery is unique to dVerse in that we incorporate a given line of poetry without any alteration, except in punctuation, into our 144 words (or less) of prose.

Blue shiny fabric caught the sunlight as Sara twisted to and fro in front of the mirror. It was her first dance, her first time at an event without her parents, and lost no significance in her mind. She had dreamed of it, written diary entries about it and unbelievably, the night was almost here. She let the fabric move to show it at its most beautiful, and the iridescent image swims through a mirror that flows. Her grandmother had helped her choose this fabric, telling Sara the blue echoed her beautiful blue eyes. Sara saw it for herself, swaying in the sparkling sun’s rays. Sara’s grandmother seemed nostalgic with a dream of her own in mind, or a dear memory.

  1. Cheryl, What a beautiful moment of excitement for a young woman you’ve painted for us, one that is reflected both in the mirror and in the memory of another! I love that balancing of images, and your use of the Kunitz quote fits altogether seamlessly. 💜
