“On Aging” by Maya Angelou

Sitting here and
Bored of course, I’m
Lonely, the
Schedule always the same
Just a name, not a person
Or apartment number where I
Live, not the home where I was
I wish sometimes I could go back
Wishing time away, I do now and then.

Cheryl, the best part of your poem is how quietly it shows a person feeling unseen, lonely, and far from the life that once felt like home.
