a burning taste familiar
breathing in tandem
lungs expand, accepting smoke
slowly the feeling spreads on
open mind stretches
dreamy invited visions
sending contentment
brain desires ever more
surrounds with satisfaction

Great take Cheryl – the flow feels like a slow exhale. The short, punchy lines mimic the pacing of someone taking a long drag and waiting for the “hit” to register. 🙌

Interesting take! I’m a reformed smoker but if it wasn’t unhealthy and expensive, I would probably still do it! Nice write 👏

An unexpected take on the prompt, Cheryl — but it works! Who knew (I didn’t!) that smoking a cigarettes shapes the landscape of the mind, the imagination, to such contentment?! (My husband’s a pipe-smoker, by the way.) Love what you did here!
