I read that ‘All Right Now’ by Free has the greatest opening line of any song ever written and although it is unlike Tennyson, Byron or Keats, this opening line lets you know it is going to be a rock song. A strong opening for a song sets the tone for the entire track and makes it memorable by establishing an immediate emotional atmosphere.
My choice is the opening solo by the amazing –
- Guitarist: Angus Young (Lead guitar).
- Technique: Rapid hammer-ons and pull-offs (0-4, 0-7, 0-9, etc.) on the B string.
- Origin: Developed from a practice/warmup lick. Guitar World +3

I’m not fond of the voices after this opening, but Angus has my attention😉🎶🎸🎵❤️

I almost went with this one too, and then ministered it over to Steve Miller Band. So glad to hear it. One of my favorite AC/DC tunes.

Great choice, Cheryl. Thunderstruck has a relentless, hard-hitting rhythm, stadium-filling sound that worked well for AC/DC, as it showed their fans how much they enjoyed playing shows.
