“Do you think that’s wise, keeping the clothes outside to dry?” The tepid demeanor of the daughter-in-law revealed her distaste for the question.
“Unlike a dryer which takes power we would have to pay for, plus the sheets etc to make our clothes feel fresh, hanging them outside is better. It makes the fabric last longer, they smell so fresh, and there’s no need for perfumed extras.“

Hehe, like it! We prefer to dry our laundry outside, but in the colder months, may have to take it up to the launderette and use one of their dryers. On the boat, we had no choice as no lines were permitted, and our clothes didn’t last as long. A jumper my Mum had knitted me went like string.
