*****For any participants that do NOT like restrictions, please feel free to participate in any way you would like. It is great to read the contributions!****
Set up a timer or sit near a clock so you can keep track of the six minutes you will be writing.
You can either use one of the prompts (photo or written) or you can free-write.
Get ready and write for 6 minutes, that is it! Can you write a complete story? Can you think of a new Sonnet? Can you write 400 words? 400? 500? There are no restrictions on what kind of writing you do, but you should try to be actively writing for six minutes.
After you are done writing, include your word count and then post back to this page #Simply6Minutes or include your link in the comments section. Pingbacks are enabled.
*Feel free to leave your work completely unedited. I believe it is good to see, especially for new writers, that even very seasoned writers don’t write a perfect first draft.*
Have fun, challenge yourself if you’d like, read and respond to others’ posts.
Thank you for participating!

I know what you’re thinking. I’ve got a big head, a big mouth with a lot of big teeth and they’re all extremely sharp. However, I can also be a nice guy. I’m proving that by saving this little baby duck that is getting lost from its mother. Baby ducks are usually all in a row as the saying goes and this one decided it wanted to visit me. I was just walking on a leash with my master in the park and all of a sudden we came upon this little duck all by itself. I looked over at the pond and there was the mother. She seemed to be counting out her babies, and was getting extremely stressed. Before my master even saw the baby duck, I spied it over by a rock. It might’ve thought the big rock was its mother. I really don’t know that much about baby ducks – all I know is that it was all alone, lost and needed to be next to its mother. I’m telling you this because I can see you’re looking at me like I’m a big mean dog and I’m going to eat this baby duck. Nothing could be further from the truth, I don’t even like duck!

Simply 6 Minutes – Welcome to the Challenge: 04/15/2025
Love it Cheryl! Don’t know how Maya would be with a duckling, but she is so gentle with her toys, especially the fluffy ones!
