Jimmy cowered under the bed, realizing his mom would be home soon. The bed was bare, no sheets or blankets, so he really wasn’t hidden by much. He had broken his mom’s favorite coffee mug, trying to get it from a high cupboard. He got his Craft glue and tried to fix it, and his babysitter helped. It was a bad patch job, would never hold a hot drink, but Jimmy thought it might work. When his mom came home she was told by the babysitter what happened. Jimmy’s mom went into the bedroom, sat on the bed and asked where her son could be. He finally came out, red faced and apologetic, only to receive a welcomed hug.

I remember how upset one of the boys was when he broke my Strawberry Shortcake mug. It was an accident when he was washing up for me and he banged it against the tap, so it cracked. I told him it was OK, it was just a mug, but he said it was MY mug, and offered me his to replace it.
He was 8.
