“There’s a lullaby for suffering” and songs written by Leonard Cohen always seem to have that sadness or grief in the background. Even “Dance me to the End of Love”, which sounds cheerful on the surface, suggests only a temporary state of happiness – dancing. His voice is perfect for pushing you into his melancholy words, whether reminding you of a personal experience or a happy ending. There are many versions of the song “Hallelujah”, but my favorite is sung by Jeff Buckley, and in my opinion, seems to impart the sad interpretation of Cohen’s lyrics.

I love so many of his songs… his last one was very special for me too, which is why I picked it.
