I have a relative lovely and strong

He married my granddaughter

After a relationship long

Turns out he’s Hispanic

His appearance and life deserves a song

I’ll sing it to the rafters to defend him now

Because laws here in my state refuse their vows

He gives the best hugs as a family agrees

And laws that threaten bring us to our knees

There is no justice in these new laws

Some people agree and take pause

We have to change these goose-stepping crews

And keep freedom our choice and fight these views.

  1. Hear! Hear! better yet we are protesting and letter writing and making all the appropriate calls- but in the end I fear we shall have to fight for what is ours- because what is our is his most of all.

  2. Cheryl, this is a heartfelt piece with a strong message. I feel the emotion behind each line, especially the call to change and fight for freedom.

What laws are you referring to that “refuse their vows”?

    Much love,

    David
