Gallops on green
Their manes flying free in the wind
Gallops on green
Hooves digging deep in the prairie
No saddles, bridles, bits, reins bind
Feelings of freedom felt in kind
Gallops on green

** This is probably a stupid question but I don’t understand the one small a in the rhyme scheme. Is it supposed to rhyme with anything? Is it supposed to be completely different? I have tried to find the answer to this question, and I finally gave up. I don’t understand the small a.

I like your poem and the prompt. The feeling of freedom and scene you set up of horses running are beautiful. Here’s one I’m attempting as a carpet cleaner:
Yes we will clean
Your carpet has a giant stain
Yes we will clean
We’ll make it look as good as new
And save you from the years of pain
from scrubbing at the nasty stain
Yes we will clean
Maybe a bit cheesy but I had some fun writing it! Thanks for sharing.

Cheryl, the small a is s’posed to rhyme with the big A 🙂
I love how this poem captures the feeling of freedom and the wild, untamed spirit of the horses. Beautiful work!
Much love,
David

that’s how rhyme schemes are generally expressed if it’s a capital ‘A’ it has to be exact line or word, and if it’s a lower case ‘a’, it has to rhyme with all other A’s and a’s.

Drat! I missed the rhyme scheme! I looked at my rondelet and it’s all wrong! 😱

Riding horses is one thing I wish I did more as a child. I love to watch horses run. One of my favorites is the gypsy cobb (vanner?) I’m not an expert by any means! Oh and Freesians! Do you go on Tik Tok? There are some wonderful videos on there of the most beautiful horses!

i would assume it rhymed with nothing but my guess is it’s a typo, everything should probably be uppercase. I cannot find a specific rule about lower case a except that it is a rhyme of A. So I think you’re good.

Or thinking it over further the capital A means it rhymes and repeats whereas the lower case a means it only rhymes

I didn’t know if any line is supposed to rhyme with another or not.
