He lures, assures, then defers, the promise
Resolute to convolute, he acts cute
She is shy, believes the lie of this fake Adonis
Always playing girls, is his repute
She wants the dream, thinks he’s the cream
Believes his scheme, but now he’s downstream.

** I shouldn’t have tried to make a poem out of this. It didn’t work.
Time for a 44-word poem!
You protest too much Cheryl – this is perfect, love it.

Cheryl, it definitely works. The message is clear. He’s a playa. Reminds me of the lines in Roxy Music’s, “Ladytron”:
I’ll use you. I’ll confuse you. And then I’ll lose you. And still you won’t suspect me.

I used to listen to music all the time. I really don’t listen that much anymore so not familiar with this particular song. I have two iPads. The old one is full of music and photos. I should get it out.

Cheryl, I love how your poem expertly reveals the tangled dynamics of deception and desire—it’s sharp and so relatable!

Excellent internal rhymes, Cheryl – let’s hope he doesn’t turn to drink like the fellow in my offering…
