When I left El Paso, I started to sing along

With “Wing”, an old Patti Smith song

“And if there’s one thing, could do for you, you’d be a wing in heaven blue”

The words were dreamlike, stirred up a memory

That I need more blue in the shadows of my sensory

I drove all night until I reached her in Colorado

Route I twenty five, my tired eyes dark hollow

And then I spied her, waiting-certainly in blue

We were on that wavelength

Just between us two.
