Received a beautiful red rose bouquet, friend said, when you need to change the water, fill vase half way with ice cubes, cut off the bottom of the stems, remove any dead leaves and they should last another week. I did this and the next day my roses were all hanging over the side of the vase dying.😭
I’ve always cut my stems diagonally. Some bouquets come with ‘plant food’ and that’s supposed to make them last at least a week. Not always. Hubby bought me some rose buds and they never opened at all! I have also tried putting a penny in the vase or a spoonful of sugar in the water. Sometimes that works.

One thing. if you cut the stems at an angle instead of straight across, the flower can absorb the water better and lives longer

Did that…I was so disappointed because she said that method would make them last. Nope😉
