Oh to have the freedom of a horse
Running wild on the prairie
Jumping alongside his herd
Feasting on sticky brush and grass
Running fast avoiding intruders
Pristine lives are short
Hunters and poachers seek them
Herds have female mares to lead
Stallions stay and fight to protect.

Yes, they built nations, like slaves, across millennia, amazing creatures.

Hi Cheryl, your words about freedom caught my attention. I always wanted to be a bird because they seem so free.

We can only yearn and marvel at such freedom, despite the threats. Love the imagery of “prairie,” “sticky brush and grass” to give context and immediacy.
