Joe sat there, contemplating his choice. He wanted to impress her, of course and he was an excellent cook. He had all the supplies necessary for a romantic dinner. Joe ordered another beer. He had calculated the time it would take to shop, go home, shower, get dressed in a nice casual outfit and then don his lucky apron and start cooking. It was her favorite meal, Risotto.

Joe’s quite a man, I think. I do like how you’ve captured the feeling of this moment in his life so economically. And hinted at a larger story that leaves us to imagine the outcome of his efforts.
