Ovi Poetry – Wisdom

A well known wise man once remarked

Get educated! It will spark

A brain that was kept in the dark

He was only trying to shine a light.

***

A doltish man eschewed wisdom

Thought only he should rule kingdoms

Begged on others for his income

Lost support with his arrogance.

  1. Hi buddy – you’ve inspired me to verse again. Though not very good verse …..

    Wisdom. Highly overrated
    Ancient knowledge. Old. Outdated
    Memories of bygone glory
Just a tale. An old man’s story
About the past. A foolish claim
That different times should be the same
You should have been there, way back when
The world was new and men were men
When black was black and white was white
And women knew their place at night
    And God was better understood
When bad was bad and good was good
And wars were fought on foreign land
    ‘gainst those who wouldn’t understand
And those who couldn’t see the light
All slaughtered in our noble fight
Our wisdom swift, with blood was taught
The roar of guns blocks out all thought
No time to think of other ways
No wisdom kept for other days
This was wisdom then, and yet
    Stupidity I can’t forget
