The train clattered along the tracks and I sat in the forward compartment because I loved watching the conductor through the smokey glass door. All of the knobs and dials and levers intrigue me. I am amazed at the ability of this man who has control over so many important parts of this huge metal vehicle. Suddenly a loud whistle reverberates through my wooden chair seating and the ride to my stop is announced, and the short adventure is done for the day.
