A shy girl, a double, needed a singular direction
Born a twin, never at ease
With parents she acted to please
Bodies similar, brains not
That was their parents’ thoughts
Separation was chosen in those days
Girls grew fearsome of each other’s ways
Parents thought they knew best
Other family wouldn’t let it rest
Their advice, seemingly concerned—
Actual knowledge was never learned
As women, acted in sync with their twin
Trouble followed them, personalities thin
Adult years their steps caused many embarrassing taints
The parents foresook them, and mother feigned a few faints.
