I was just hopping along enjoying my day

When the King of Hearts blocked my way

I have a job for you and be quick about it

Don’t repeat it and of course not shout it

I want you to meet a certain young girl

She has a blue and white dress and yellow curls

I want you to tell her you know of a place

And be sure to quicken your pace

I want her to visit my kingdom rare

Pointing to a hole in the ground over there

So I did as I was told and invited her in

To my home where the magic did begin.

. . . and what were you like before . . .

  1. There are so many great characters to choose from in Alice in Wonderland, Cheryl, and the White Rabbit is a great choice – Jefferson Airplane certainly thought so. I love that you wrote your poem in the first person, and that the White Rabbit is in the service of the King of Hearts.
