Pretending to be a friend
Sneaking onto the blanket only just rid of fur
Laying innocently on your lap
A sound heard, from the kitchen?
The can opener whirls
Fishy odors drift into the lair
Her nails are out in an elongated stretch
Not meaning (really?) to mar her perch
Leaps into a pleasing manner below the bearer of tuna.

Poetics: Creatures of the Blank Page
First and foremost, I LOVE the poem and it seems to me, you’ve described cats to a T! I do see you’ve had some trouble with linking your poem. I think you’ve posted it to the wrong Mr. Linky on the wrong prompt. The prompt for this Mr. Linky is the 11 line poem with first lines all taken from the first line of the first verse of one poem from each month of 2023. Perhaps this poem was for the prompt before?

No it was for the 11 prompt. I’ll see if I can fix it😵💫

Cheryl, “Pretending to be a friend” charmingly captures the sly antics of a feline companion. The vivid imagery and humor add delightful charm to the scene. Well done.

Poems are formed as unpredictably as cats with their ends, their desires, is what I’m reading here, Cheryl. So true. By the way, can you re-post your link on Mr. Linky? The original does not work. (Thanks)

Thanks! I get my posts emailed to me and I just copy the entire url with post title and paste into Mr Linky. Somehow my email service stopped that🤪

I’m a newbie with it, so it took me a moment to figure it out. Glad I could correct it. Thanks for joining in, Cheryl! 💖
