My first thought of course was the haunting song “Blue Moon”. History tells us that it was written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. In reality, “Blue Moon” was composed in 1931 by a 17-year-old, the son of Polish immigrants, after an evening of moonlit skating on a pond in upstate New York—East bank of the Hudson River. His name was Edward W. Roman.”

icy landscape love
blue moon of night shining clear
words of romance came
overheard and then stolen
true story comes with reward

I am a bit too young to relate to the song, but I will listen especially since one of my best moon memories was skiing across a moonlit tarn with my father as a kid.

Haibunilicious! Thanks for the background. I can’t even imagine (given my age bracket) anyone hearing the phrase “blue moon” and not IMMEDIATELY start singing to themselves.
