Some changes you have no choice
You think you have a voice
A say in what happens when
You think you do, and then
You’re knocked off your feet
Unaware of the defeat
Dreams, plans, all disappear
Your loved one dies and then fear
Can I make it all alone
Will I still have a home
It takes some time to realize
Things go on and you still have your life.

I don’t think you can ever be prepared for those sudden changes when your life becomes something else. But yes, it does go on. A poignant poem. Thank you for writing to the prompt.

I have always thought it is better to change than be changed… so far in work life, but now all on my own,
