Fire and damnation to shock the shy and lift the dream of self righteous parishioners. That was the preacher’s plan, torn from the weathered bible he displayed from an upright fist. Not even a tiny bit of remorse as the stricken came to mourn their sick and dead from the world’s crises.
The stories told in a harsh voice had a lock on salvation, truth, and light, according to the evangelist. The poor straggled into the tent, their coins confiscated at the door, while the “purveyor of truth” was in the back counting his coffers.
Proudly, he stood in front of the “sinners” overflowing the tent again and again hurling versed revelations, warnings and threats to encourage more donations from the audience.

Well done. A great use of the words. I couldn’t think of anything.
