From the tiny bud emerging on the branch
To the partial opening during spring chills
Uncurling in the late spring
Finding full strength in summer sun
Teetering, trying to hold fast as autumn winds blow
Flying free as a burnished spirit in early winter
Scooting across the icy snow and finally buried
In a frozen blanket to nourish the earth
Helping newborn buds grow.

A lovely concept and poem.
